WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE DOING - Solutions by dealing with the root causes.

This past week, the world lost one of the most influential people of the last fifty years with the passing of Desmond Tutu. One of his most famous quotes is, "There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they're falling in," which parallels food insecurity very well. The work all of you do is extremely important and we cannot let up; however, we need to do more to address the root causes of food insecurity, poverty, and the lack of safe and affordable (geared-to-income) housing. Encouraging and lobbying for more businesses to pay a living wage is one way. This thinking is something that the United Way of Perth-Huron is trying to influence with this video from late 2019.
