Poverty and the lack of affordable and safe housing are two of the leading causes of food insecurity. Affordable housing has been one of the central issues in federal, provincial, and municipal politics recently. Much of the focus has been on building new affordable houses for the "middle class" but more must be done for vulnerable people. This CBC video offers a solution that hasn't received as much press and is something that is working in larger urban centres and could work in smaller towns and cities as well.
